End User Licence Agreement

The licence under which you may install and play RecursionSplash games.

Last updated

⚠️ TEMPLATE — NOT LEGAL ADVICE. A structural starting point only, filled in with your actual details. Have a qualified solicitor review it before you rely on it.

1. Licence grant

RecursionSplash grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and play our games for your own private, non-commercial entertainment.

This licence is granted alongside — not instead of — Valve's Steam Subscriber Agreement, which also applies to any copy obtained through Steam.

2. What you may not do

You may not:

  • Sell, rent, sublicense, or redistribute the software;
  • Reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble it, except to the limited extent that applicable law expressly permits despite this restriction;
  • Modify the software or create derivative works from it;
  • Use cheats, trainers, bots, memory editors or automation tools against our online services;
  • Circumvent, disable or interfere with any security, anti-cheat or entitlement mechanism;
  • Host, emulate or operate an unauthorised server for our games;
  • Extract and reuse our assets (art, music, code, text) in your own projects.

3. Content creation

Recording and streaming our games — including monetised video — is expressly permitted. See the press page for what you may use and the small number of things we ask you not to do.

4. Ownership

The software is licensed, not sold. RecursionSplash and its licensors retain all right, title and interest in the games and all copies of them.

5. Virtual items

Virtual items and currencies are covered by section 4 of our Terms of Service. In short: they are a revocable licence to use a feature, not property, and hold no monetary value.

6. Updates

We may issue patches, updates and content changes automatically through Steam. Some updates are required in order to keep using online features.

7. Termination

This licence terminates automatically if you breach it. On termination you must stop using the software and remove it from your devices. Sections 2, 4, 8 and 9 survive termination.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the software is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, RecursionSplash is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill. Our aggregate liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

10. Governing law

This agreement is governed by the laws of Canada.
