Cookie Policy
This site sets no analytics or advertising cookies. Here is exactly what it does set, and why.

⚠️ TEMPLATE — NOT LEGAL ADVICE. Accurate to how this site is currently built, but still worth a solicitor's review before launch. Re-check it if you ever add an embed, a third-party script or a consent banner.
The short version
recursionsplashgames.com sets no tracking cookies. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel, no social media tracker and no cross-site fingerprinting on this website.
Because we set no non-essential cookies, there is no consent banner. That is not an oversight — it is the point.
What we do set
| Name | Type | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
rs_admin | Strictly necessary | Signs in the studio's own private analytics dashboard at /admin. Only ever set for studio staff, never for ordinary visitors. | Matches ADMIN_SESSION_HOURS — 12 hours by default |
That is the complete list for ordinary visitors: none.
How we count visitors without cookies
We run first-party analytics. For each page view the server records the page path, the referring domain, a country derived from your IP address (the IP itself is discarded immediately and never stored), your device class and your browser language.
To count people rather than page loads, the server derives a one-way hash from a salt that rotates every 24 hours. The hash cannot be reversed, cannot identify you, and cannot link your visits across days. It is not stored in your browser.
Full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
Third-party content
We deliberately avoid embedding third-party content that would set cookies:
- Game artwork and screenshots are hosted by us, not hotlinked from Steam.
- Fonts are self-hosted at build time. No request is made to Google Fonts when you load a page.
- Trailers are linked out to Steam rather than embedded, so no video player cookie is set on our domain.
If a devlog post ever embeds a YouTube video, that embed will set cookies from
youtube.com when you play it, governed by Google's own policies. This section
should be revisited if that ever happens.
In our games
This policy covers the website only. Our games do not use browser cookies. The data they do collect is described in the Privacy Policy.
Changing your mind
Since we set nothing to opt out of, there is nothing to withdraw. You can still block or clear cookies in your browser settings at any time, and the site will work exactly the same.
